Erastus Corning letter : Albany, to W. Hamilton Merritt, 1845 July 31.

Expresses support of Merritt's plan to build a railroad from a point in Canada, opposite Buffalo, to Detroit, called the Detroit & Niagara Rivers Railroad, and willingness to purchase stock in the railroad, provided sufficient capital is subscribed by responsible parties to insure its early completion. Letter is signed by Erastus Corning, John Townsend, G. Y. Lansing, Marcus T. Reynolds, Rufus H. King, Lewis Benedict, Watts Sherman, A. McIntyre, and H. Yates.
